Advanced Cancer Treatment
Minimally Invasive Solutions for Hard-to-Treat Cancers
Embio Medical develops proprietary catheter platform technologies using electroporation to transform the treatment of severe and difficult-to-access tumors.
Our Mission
Safer, earlier intervention for hard-to-treat cancers
Our mission is to make cancer treatment safer, more targeted, and less invasive, through precision catheter-based therapies - starting with pancreatic cancer, one of the hardest cancers to treat today.
Platform Technologies
Core Efforts in Development
Embio Medical is developing advanced electroporation catheter technologies for localised diagnostics and treatment in anatomically difficult and clinically sensitive environments.
Core Efforts
- Localised electroporation close to the tissue of interest
- Mild reversible electroporation for controlled release of biological material
- Aspiration of released material for analysis
- Local delivery of therapeutic agents
- Catheter designs adapted to different anatomical environments
- Integrated diagnostic and therapeutic workflows
Local electroporation may also influence the tumour microenvironment and immune response, which is an important area for future research.

Shared Technology Principles
Across both areas, Embio's technology development is based on catheter architectures with closely positioned electrodes that may enable localised electroporation at lower voltages than conventional designs. This approach may support both diagnosis and treatment, sometimes within the same catheter platform.
Our Products
Two Complementary Platforms
Intraductal Electroporation
Embio is developing electroporation catheter concepts for pancreatic and bile ducts, aimed at enabling localised diagnostics, sampling and treatment in narrow and fragile duct systems.
Key Features
- Electroporation catheter for pancreatic and bile duct use
- Closely spaced electrodes enabled by advanced manufacturing methods
- Low-voltage localised electroporation
- Sampling of released biological material, liquid biopsy, ie. exosomes, cfDNA, mtDNA and miRNA
- Local delivery through one or more lumens
- Designed for compatibility with endoscopic workflows
Precision Electroporation for Sensitive Anatomy
Embio is also developing ultra-thin electroporation catheter and probe concepts for highly sensitive anatomical settings where conventional surgery, thermal techniques or larger instruments may be unsuitable.
Key Features
- Ultra-thin catheter (can be as thin as 1-2 Fr) and probe for sensitive anatomy
- Closely positioned electrodes for spatially confined electric fields
- Low-voltage electroporation with the aim of reducing unnecessary local effects
- Support for localised sampling, targeted delivery, or combined diagnostic and treatment workflows
- Compatible in principle with advanced access methods, including stereotactic techniques in the brain
- Future potential in selected difficult-to-access tumour applications
